Legislators, Mayors, Council Members and Law Enforcement Urge Legislature to Sunset Massage Therapy Regulation Legislation and Stop Proliferation of Illegitimate Massage Establishments

Mayors, council members, police chiefs and other law enforcement flooded the Capitol on Monday to call on the Legislature to replace SB 731 of 2008 with regulations that restore local control over massage therapy businesses to California cities and police departments. The Sunset Review Committee, which jointly comprises the Assembly Business Professions and Consumer Protection committee and the Senate Business, Professions and Economic Development committees, took up SB 731 in its sunset review hearing Monday afternoon.

League to Offer Webinar on Workforce Wellness

On Thursday, March 20, the League of California Cities’ League Partner program will offer a free webinar outlining the various resources available to cities to help build and grow employee wellness programs. Scheduled from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m., the webinar will be the first in a yearlong series of online educational sessions available to League member cities on the subject of workforce wellness.
