California Newspapers Endorse League-Supported Propositions 68, 69 and 72 on the June Ballot

May 15, 2018
With many vote-by mail voters in California making decisions weeks before the official June 5 election day, newspapers starting making endorsements in March.

Papers throughout the state have endorsed Proposition 68, the parks and water bond, Prop. 69, constitutional protections for transportation revenues and Prop. 72, property tax exclusion for installation of rainwater capture systems. The League is supporting all three measures on the June statewide ballot because they improve California cities and strengthen neighborhoods.

Here’s a roundup of endorsements from some California newspapers:

San Francisco Chronicle Sacramento Bee Desert Sun Monterey Herald and Santa Cruz Sentinel (same editorials ran in each paper) Los Angeles Times Bakersfield Californian San Jose Mercury News and East Bay Times (same editorials ran in each paper) Fresno Bee Orange County Register Southern California News Group San Diego Union Tribune Marin Independent Journal
