Cities Can Apply for Local Equity Grant Funds by April 1

March 4, 2019
The Bureau of Cannabis Control has recently announced the availability of $10 million in grant funding authorized by The California Cannabis Equity Act of 2018, known as the Equity Act, which was established by SB 1294 (Bradford, 2018).

This grant funding is available to local jurisdictions for the purpose of assisting local equity applicants and local equity licensees in that local jurisdiction to gain entry to, and to successfully operate in, the state's regulated cannabis marketplace. For the purposes of these funds, "local equity program" means a program adopted or operated by a local jurisdiction that focuses on inclusion and support of individuals and communities in California's cannabis industry who are linked to populations or neighborhoods that were negatively or disproportionately impacted by cannabis criminalization.

Additional details and the application are available on the Bureau of Cannabis Control’s website. The deadline to apply is April 1.

Questions regarding the application should be directed to Ashlynn Blackshire.
