Got Badges? SB 556 (Padilla) Contract Employee Disclaimer Bill Moves to Senate

The League of California Cities urges its members to ask Gov. Jerry Brown to veto Senate Bill 556, which would prohibit contracted employees from displaying a public agency’s logo without a disclaimer.

SB 556, authored by Sen. Alex Padilla, D-Los Angeles, initially failed to garner the 41 votes needed to pass off the Assembly floor on Monday afternoon -- receiving 34 “aye” votes and 21 “no” votes.  About 90 minutes later, however, the measure passed, 43-24.
